Mental & Behavioral Health

Providing compassionate, evidence-based support for emotional wellness, psychiatric care, and whole-person healing.

About our Services

Our Integrated Care Model

Mental health does not exist separately from physical health. That is why our behavioral health clinicians work closely with primary care providers, nursing staff, and care coordination teams.

Through our integrated care model:

  • Behavioral health consultations can occur during primary care visits
  • Communication between providers is streamlined
  • Treatment plans are coordinated
  • Barriers to access are reduced

This approach improves outcomes, enhances patient experience, and supports whole-person health.

At Sedgwick County Health Center, we provide comprehensive services for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, stress-related conditions, and other behavioral health challenges.

Our team works collaboratively with primary care providers to ensure care is coordinated, accessible, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Whether you are seeking short-term counseling, medication management, or long-term therapeutic support, we are here to help.

Insurance Coverage

Most major insurance plans are accepted. Some services may require a referral depending on your specific coverage and benefits. Our team can assist with verifying insurance.

We are committed to making access to care as clear, straightforward, and stress-free as possible.

Continuity & Follow Up

Frequency of follow-up depends on your needs and treatment plan. Some individuals benefit from short-term, solution-focused therapy, while others may engage in longer-term support.

We prioritize timely follow-up, measurable progress, and coordination with your broader care team.

Frequently Asked Questions

In many cases, you do not need a referral to schedule a behavioral health appointment. However, some insurance plans may require one depending on your coverage. If you are unsure, our team can help verify your benefits and guide you through the scheduling process. If you are already established with one of our primary care providers, we can also coordinate care directly.

Your first visit focuses on understanding your concerns, history, and goals. You will have a confidential conversation with your provider about what you are experiencing and how it is affecting your daily life. We may complete screening assessments to better understand your symptoms. Together, you will develop a personalized care plan that may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of both.

Not everyone requires medication as part of their treatment plan. Some individuals benefit from therapy alone, while others may find that medication helps manage symptoms more effectively. If medication is recommended, your provider will explain the options, discuss potential benefits and side effects, and answer all of your questions before starting treatment. Follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor progress and make adjustments if needed.

The frequency of follow-up visits depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. Some patients are seen weekly or biweekly for therapy, while others may have monthly or periodic medication management appointments. As your symptoms improve, visit frequency may decrease. Our goal is to provide the right level of support for your situation while helping you build long-term stability and resilience.
