Dr. Shaw’s influence extends well beyond her role as Chief Medical Officer. Throughout her career, she has held numerous leadership positions, including Chief of Staff, Emergency Room Medical Director, Obstetrics Medical Director, and Education Director. She has also served as Medical Director for multiple volunteer EMS and fire departments, strengthening emergency response systems and rural trauma readiness. Her work in sports medicine, emergency preparedness, and rural public health reflects a deep commitment to both patient care and community resilience.
Her dedication to rural communities goes far beyond the hospital. Dr. Shaw is passionate about strengthening local health systems, mentoring future providers, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of rural healthcare. She believes strong rural healthcare depends on strong leadership, provider development, and engaged communities.
Outside of her executive and clinical roles, Dr. Shaw is actively involved in the Sidney, Sedgwick County, and Deuel County communities. She is a familiar presence at local sporting events, supporting student-athletes and often attending games where her husband, Tyler, coaches. Over the years, she has contributed in many ways, from keeping score to providing sports medicine support.
Whether leading clinical teams, mentoring providers, coordinating emergency systems, or supporting her community, Dr. Shaw embodies service. She is not only a physician leader, but a cornerstone of healthcare and community life across the region.
